economy
looking grim in many countries, companies shutting their
doors, and jobs becoming increasingly scarce, the idea of working from
home is not only appealing, but for some, this is a survival
tool. If this is something you are interested in, then first
consider, HOW you would make your money working from home? Would you want to freelance? This can be a good way to start if you have specific skills to market, such as web design, graphic design, article or report writing, data entry, and so on. Check out elance.com. There are other similar sites. Would you sell on ebay? This is how many people get their start, making money online. They have many help files to guide you through the steps, as you learn how to use PayPal, set up listings, and more. If you're out of work, selling your garage sale items on ebay can be a great way to raise a little cash, while getting your feet wet. Keep in mind, once you get the knack of it, you might have friends, family, or neighbors who have items they want to sell, that they would pay you a percentage of for doing it. Maybe you are interested in becoming an internet marketer. Internet marketing can consist of selling digital products online, blogging, affiliate marketing, article marketing (also called bum marketing), niche marketing, ezine publishing, and other aspects of marketing. If this sounds good, you will need to learn skills, just like you would in the offline world. There are people who have the idea they will "get an internet business" and "make money online", without any real clear idea of what type of business they will pursue. This can lead to many disappointments. There are certainly many products and courses that can seem like a magic bullet in the advertisement, but if you want to succeed as an internet marketer, be prepared to work hard to gain the knowledge you will need. (Not saying you won't need a few courses or other products from time to time.) If there were really something that you could read, "implement" in an hour or so, and then just sit back, and collect untold riches from, as you can imagine, our economy would have fewer problems. Having said that, there are plenty of people making a very nice living online, but most of them had to put in a lot of time and effort, and built up their success over a period of time, and trial and error. Do you enjoy photography? If so, do you have a digital camera? Did you know there are stock photo companies online, that will sell your images, and pay you a commission when someone pays to download them? A good way to see what type of images sell well, is to set up a free account, and browse through them. If you like to photograph animals, for instance, see how the animal photos are selling. Most companies will show how many times an image has been downloaded. Maybe you like to photograph architecture, or snowstorms, for instance? You might check Bigstock.com, as well as istock.com. There are other stock image sites, as well. You may also want to market physical products, through Network Marketing, or MLM (Multi Level Marketing). Though some people have lost money by "stocking up" on huge quantities of MLM company products, others make a nice living this way. With the possibility of developing leads online, you can now increase your chances of succeeding this way. Another thing the internet has changed, is that many companies offer online tutorials, and help files. These are just a few ways you could earn money working from home. Be prepared for it to take time to replace the income of a traditional job, whatver you may decide to pursue. Also, watch out for offers that seem to promise "instant riches". If something sounds too good to be true, chances are, it is. If you feel you just have to gamble, every now and then, check and see if there is a refund, or return policy, and read the details before purchasing. There are many free, and low cost resources available, but you will eventually have some expenses. Try to avoid the temptation of spending money on things that aren't part of your business plan. disappeared, things have changed a lot. There are now
opportunities where you can primarily recruit online, with the products
dropshipped to your customers, and you can harness the power of social
marketing sites, such as Twitter and Facebook, to help build your
network. (Though you want to make sure you don't get carried away
and violate a site's terms and conditions, or you may find your account
banned.) The same scrutiny should be applied to online MLM opportunities as offline ones. Check out their name(s), and owner's name's, and website address with the Better Business Bureau. And try Google searching the company name, by itself, and with the words, review, scam, and ripoff, to see how the company's reputation stacks up. It's better to be a little disappointed before you part with your hard earned money. |
